# Prusa Hardware Upgrades
## Mk3S+ to Mk4

### 1. print the parts

my current white petg spool had about 115g when I started. I have a fresh spool after that (another 1kg).

### 2. read the guide without doing anything
The goal is to understand how the upgrade works, what's involved, and if I have all the right parts and tools.
(In retrospect, I did not bother myself with reading the entire guide beforehand)
### 3. (Optional) Have your Mk3S+ destroy itself
My Mk3S+ somehow got its probe wire stuck around (and glued to) the hotend nozzle. This tore apart the bracket holding the probe, so the printer was effectively unable to run prints with its normal zeroing process.
Could I have ordered a new probe bracket and probe? Sure, but I already had the upgrade parts, and the Mk4 doesn't use a probe. We roll forward, not back!
### 4. follow the guide
This went swimmingly, and I only had a couple hiccups related to the fact that I also use the Enclosure, so my PSU is not mounted on the printer itself. I will want to add future upgrades like a [quick-release PSU cable](https://www.prusa3d.com/product/psu-cable-quick-release-for-original-prusa-enclosure-mk4/), and a [quick-release LCD cable](https://www.printables.com/model/806502-xlcd-improved-quickrelease-for-original-enclosure).
